Illamasqua Haul

my illamasqua delivery has ARRIVED!! I'm beyond excited I had to go home especially to use it! it arrived in a black box and with a load of black tissue in the bottom with the make up nicely placed on it! I have literally only been able to use them a few minutes ago so just going to talk about them quickly and then review them later!

Hydra Veil - £27

this is a primer and loads of people have recommended this to me so I really wanted to try it! thought it would be great for me and my kit as need there make up to stay on long plus mine always come off quickly! texture wise it feels lovely as do a lot of silicone based primers but as I've only had it on for half an hour I can't tell you if it keeps your foundation on well yet! it comes with a cute and useful spatula that fits into the lid so you won't lose it plus the packaging is gorgeous!

Skin Base Foundation - £27

as I bought this foundation online I had to match it online to my skin tone, I bought this foundation for me to use but if I liked it on me and others I can always buy more for my kit in the future! I put it on tonight in bad lighting so to be honest I can't give you a good review but I barely used any and it seemed to be able to cover me well, and the colour seems to be a good match (thank goodness!) I will use it on Thursday which is a very long day for me and can review it well then to see if it stays put! hopefully used with the primer it will stay as my foundation always comes off! I got it in shade 4.

Skin Base Lift Comcealer - £16

lately I have been using concealer under my eyes a lot more as I find them really dark atm! but what I always find even when I use powder it creases almost instantly and throughout the day :/ I really dunno what to do about it and will have to try a few things to sort it out! but I use a bit and once again it creased, but it could of been cos I didn't blend it in enough! but the colour was a good match and the lightest shade (shade 1)

Eyebrow Cake in Stark - £15.50

I was worried about getting this colour as it was the redest shade but on the swatch on the website didn't look red at all, but sadly it's completely red and looks awful on me! it will be going in my kit tho as it will suit some people (mainly redheads) but I do really like the product itself

Sealing Gel - £7

I got this to use on the eyebrow cake as I want my eyebrow products to stay put plus it glides on easier than just eyeshadow, as I got the wrong shade eyebrow cake, I decided to try it out quickly with my mac eyeshadow that I use for my eyebrows (omega) I didn't have my eyebrow brush on me but on first use I did really like it and it's probably a product I can use in my kit a lot!

Dark Circles

something I suffer with is dark circles under my eyes, probably because I barely sleep and don't drink much water at all (it's awful I know I'm going to try get better at it!) As I don't tend to wear any make up lately it's become a real probably as I don't use products to cover it up! so recently I've been researching into the causes and treatments and products you can use to get rid of them or at least make them better!

some of the ones I have like the sound of I'm going to share with you, I will try a few out and see if any make a difference and if so I will do a review on it and show the progress! (if there is any hopefully)

method one

take 2 teaspoons and put them in the freezer over night, take them out and let them rest for a little, then place them gently under the eyes, moving to cover the whole undereye, the coldness of the spoons should wake up your under eye and decrease black circles!

method two

use an ice cube or two and wrap them up well and place them under the eyes till it melts, this is the same sort of thing as method one just a bit harder

method three

create your own green tea ice cubes, make some strong green tea, poor into an ice cube tray and leave till they are done (normally a couple hours) then wrap them up the same making sure they aren't too cold and dab them under the eyes, green tea has been proven to minimise dark cycles and is used in a lot of expensive treatments you can buy for under the eye.

method four

use under eye creams regularly and start from a young age! using eye cream every night makes the under eye skin more strong and the stronger it is the less sensitive it will be to becoming puffy and dark, look out for ones that have caffeine in them as this has been proven to help a lot with immediate dark circles under the eyes.

method five

being dehydrated does a lot of bad things to the body and skin (I would know) so making sure you drink lots of water will help, also having a healthier life style like sleeping more and not drinking or smoking! I'm going to try drink lots more water but I don't know how I will be able to fit more sleep in atm because life is rather hectic atm

method six

and lastly the good old fashioned cucumber or tea bags on the eyes. you can cut up very thin slices of cold cucumber and rest on your eyes for ten minutes or you can chill a tea bag (prefabally green tea) and then place on your eyes for ten minute!

I haven't yet tried any of these method but am definitely going to start and keep you updated on what I think works best and how long it takes to be effective!!

Make Up Life ATM

hey guys, right sorry about no posts the last two days, it's just been super hectic at work and uni so just haven't had the time! just gonna have a quick ramble on about what's going on in my life make up wise to keep you updated and then tomorrow I can do another mac review and talk more into depth about my uni subject this week.

so I just placed a big order a few hours ago to illamasqua which I'm unbelievably excited about! should be coming early next week!! can't wait to try out what I bought!! hopefully colour wise it will match me as having to buy it online it was tricky and when in the London store for a demo earlier this year I didn't end up getting foundation tested so I didn't know what colour I was in skin base. but thank god for the Internet as I managed to find a chart which told me if I was that colour in mac I would be that colour in skin base so I could work it out! I will be keeping the rest of the products a surprise until they arrive so I can show them to you and once having used them can review them too!

I am now OBSESSED with watching start up make up kits on YouTube, honestly it's so fascinating seeing all the different products people think are good to start with the kit and how they pack everything and compress it down to fit in what ever carrier they are using for their kits! I have gotten plenty of ideas and over the next few months and Christmas I will be purchasing some and trying to really sort out my kit and make sure it's completely ready for any job I get thrown into! my mind has been taken over by the thought of buying a zuca bag! it's like every make up artists dream to have one and is the ideal thing to store your make up in when going on shoots ect!! hopefully in the next few weeks I will be able to get one and then will upload sooo many pictures and reviews!! it just sucks it's so pricey!!

this week at UNI we are focusing on special effects make up and making bald caps, applying them and also creating burns and scars and so on.. although I absolutely love horror films I have never been much into doing the make up for it myself but I do appreciate the art form completely it's just stunning! it will be fun and good to learn all about this side of the industry because I'm sure throughout my carer I will have to put these skills to good use!!

so yeah just what's been going on lately to keep you up to date..

Inspiration

just wanted to show you some of the inspiring pieces of work that I have found lately. I love really rich colours and textures in make up and anything abstract and high fashion is what I find the most interesting, although this terms topic is on Victorian circus, so I think I will be researching a lot of black and white make up looks

Mac Product Reviews

right so I have quite a few mac products in my kit and for my own use but not nearly as much as I would like!! but I'm going to review and talk about a few of them today!

okay first off I wanna talk about the mac studio finish concealer in NW15 which I believe is the lightest shade! I think it's a great concealer and does a good job at hiding dark under eye circles but I finis it doesn't always cover blemishes as much as I wish it did! and sometimes creases under my eyes even after using a setting powder! Although it has an SPF 35 I would of never known that as it's never flash backed on me!
Studio FinishConcealer NW15 SPF35

I bought this pencil when the brow gel I wanted to buy had been discontinued and I still wanted to leave the shop with a brow product! my eyebrows don't need much work to them to be honest, they are quite full and big and a nice shape, but I do like the look of them when they are filled in, plus in photography without my eyebrows done they show up as grey thanks to foundation which is an awful look :/. I loved the colour and the brush on the other end is very useful and I use everyday but this pencil does not sharpen at all it crumbles the second it goes near a sharpener and therefore I have no been able to use it for months, which is really disappointing and quite annoying as I like the colour and product itself!
Deep Brunette Veluxe Brow Liner

this powder is perfect for any skin tone or type! as it goes transparent completely (like in the name) and it doesn't cake up when using it lots! I personally barely ever wear powder, I like the dewy look plus my skin is normal to dry so don't really need a powder and it I did reach for one I prefer pressed powders! but on clients and other people I think it is a good product and the more I use it the more I like it which is always good!
Mac Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder

when ever I do a light shade of lipstick or sometimes I even use it on it's own I use Mac spice lip liner, it's great for making the lips look fuller and makes any lipstick put on top look creamy and rich, I like to put a nude or pink lipstick on top! it doesn't dry out my lips which is always good and come off nicely, I never have much luck with lipstick staying on for long!

Nail Art

I was going to do some product reviews but I'm not home at the moment so I thought I would show you some of the nail art designs I have done! over the last few years I've been obsessed with going over the top with nails and free drawing, it has been made easier since having fake nails as they are finally long enough to do a lot more designs plus I just like them all being the same size and shape constantly! if you want to know how I did any of them just comment below and I will do a separate post just on that and what products I used..

Nude Lipstick And Natural Make Up Look

For the last few months I haven't been wearing make up because I went on holiday and then decided I wanted to make my skin better! but since I've started going back to uni I have started to wear a little! today I thought I would go with nude lips to match my nude nails!! to create them I used mac stone lip liner all over the lips and over the top used a nude lipstick from my Charles fox lipstick palette.

for the rest of my make up I used mac face and body shade C3 a cream cheek tint, mac eyeshadow on my eyebrows and a tiny bit of mascara on the top eyelashes.
